Sunday
21st December 2008
4th
Sunday of Advent
Mary,
the Ark of God's Covenant
"Rejoice so
highly favoured; the Lord is with you."
The Angel addressed these words to Mary, the
Mother of Jesus, and our Mother. But they
are also addressed to each of us who have
the wonderful privilege of knowing Jesus through
our Baptism. They have a very special significance
for couples who are privileged to have each
other and to be united in the Sacrament of
Marriage. In the course of this week of Christmas,
be aware of all the good that is in your love
relationship, how highly favoured you are
to have this person as your wife/husband.
Be aware also of the goodness of each one
of your children and how privileged you are
to have them. As you celebrate the Eucharist
during this week leading up to Christmas,
make a special effort to appreciate the people
of your parish. And know that your love makes
Christ present.
Fr. Johnny Doherty,
C.Ss.R

At
this Joyful Time in our Community and the
Church
I would
like to take this opportunity to wish each
and everyone of you A Happy, Holy and Peaceful
Christmas. To thank you sincerely for your
cards and good wishes, your gifts, your Prayers,
your support and help during this last year
both in liturgies and throughout the different
bodies within the parish when you give of
that most precious commodity, your time, and
you share the gift of your time so willingly.
All
the great liturgical celebrations we all enjoyed
during the year, the couples who began their
married life in the Church of St. Patrick,
the parents who came to this Church to have
their babies enrolled as members of the christian
family through the Sacrament of Baptism.
At
this time we remember especially the families
who have been bereaved since last Christmas,
may the Joy of the Christ Child visit them
in their sorrow. This year we had the completion
of the work on the new parochial house which
I got the keys of on the 25th July 2008 and
moved in with all my plastic bags on 1st August.
The joy of the new house is something else,
I look forward to the Bishop forgetting I
am here so I can remain with you for a few
more years.
Merry
Christmas
