St. Patrick's Church, Aghyaran.

Parish Priest: Fr. J. Gilmore

Telephone 8167 0728

Sunday 6th December 2009

Second Sunday of Advent.

"(John) went through the whole Jordan district proclaiming a baptism for the forgiveness of sins." Every day we are made aware of how much evil there is in our world, with stories of cruelty and vandalism at home and abroad. And yet in spite of this awareness there is a huge decline in our sense of sin. In some ways this is a good development because in former times so much was thought of as sin. However, as we approach Christmas and beyond, it is important that we hear the call for repentance and leave anything that is harmful in the past behind us by placing it firmly in the hands of Christ, especially through celebrating the great Sacrament of Confession. This makes it possible for us to make a fresh start again and again in our relationships with God and with one another in our homes and in our parish community.

Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

The Parish Bazaar.

A special word of thanks to all who did such great work last Sunday night to make the Parish Bazaar such a huge success. I would like to sincerely thank you the people of the parish who contributed so generously as Sponsors, to the parish collection and those collectors who collected for the bazaar throughout the parish, those who attended on the night in such large numbers. Without your support and backing then the Bazaar would never be the great parish event that it has become. Thanks also to the GAA Centre for the use of the hall and those who helped prepare the hall for the night. There are still some donations promised so when we get the final total it will be published in the newsletter.

TROCAIRE Global Gift.

Show how much you care this Christmas. Take a Trocaire Gift Brochure from the back of the church and come along to the sacristy after Mass where someone will be available to assist you with your purchase of a Global Gift. In giving a Trocaire Global Gift you will know that it will bring joy to the person who receives it but it will in many cases give life to a needy person in the Third World.
