Sunday
3rd January 2010
Second
Sunday after Christmas
The book of Genesis tells us
that when God spoke, the world was created. “Let
there be light – and there was light”.
The Gospel of John echoes this when we read through
the word of God all things came to be. The Word
of God is creative and life-giving and brings
light out of darkness. The Word was made flesh
in the person of Jesus, and lived among us. He
spoke the message of eternal life and we hear
to this day his words of compassion, truth and
love.
May the words we speak also be
words that are creative and life-giving; words
of faith, hope and love that truly reflect the
glory, grace and truth of God’s eternal
Word. “O Lord, open my lips and my tongue
shall announce your praise”.
Fr. Johnny Doherty,
C.Ss.R.

Quiet Moments with Padre Pio.
Peace is simplicity of heart, serenity of mind,
tranquility of soul, the bond of love. Peace mans
order, harmony in our whole being; it means continual
contentment springing from the knowledge of a
good conscience; it is the holy joy of a heart
in which God reigns. Peace is the way to perfection,
indeed in peace is perfection to be found. The
devil, who is well aware of all this, makes every
effort to have us lose our peace
Padre
Pio
The Holy
Family Padre Pio prayer group will hold their
first monthly meeting of their 5th year in the
Holy Family Church, Ballymagroarty, Derry, on
MONDAY night 11th January starting with 7.30 pm
Mass. There will be two 1st class relics of St
Pio at the meeting.
