Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus said to the crowd: ‘Do
not work for food that cannot last but work
for food that endures to eternal life’.
Every one of us has a whole variety
of people and things that are important
to us. And we don’t want to neglect
any of them. However, we all have a great
responsibility to set priorities, and to
get those priorities right. That is what
Jesus is calling us to this week. The most
important things are those that last forever
like love, faith, hope. And the most important
people are those of our own families and
communities. Married couples need to make
their marriage their priority. Parents need
to make their family their priority. As
people of faith we need to make our parish
our priority. All this means that other
things and people become less important
while not neglecting them.

Your Daily
Prayer
Lord Jesus
Christ, you came among us
Through Mary's 'yes' to God. Help me this day
To say 'yes' to the Father's call to me,
so that in my words and actions,
in times of work and leisure,
you can be present in me
through the power of the Eucharist to heal,
to comfort and to sustain.
I pray with Mary and the whole Church
for the Pope's intentions this month.
Prayer to
the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy
Spirit, replace the tension within us with a holy
relaxation.
Replace the turbulence within us with a sacred
calm.
Replace the anxiety within us with a quiet confidence.
Replace the fear within us with a strong faith.
Replace the bitterness within us with the sweetness
of grace.
Replace the darkness within us with a gentle light.
Replace the coldness within us with a loving warmth.
Replace the night within us with Your light.
Replace the winter within us with Your spring.
Straighten our crookedness.
Fill our emptiness.
Dull the edge of our pride.
Sharpen the edge of our humility.
Light the fires of our love.
Quench the flames of our lust.
Let us see ourselves as You see us,
that we may see You as You have promised,
And be fortunate according to Your word,
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God. Amen.
